Rupin Pass trek is a high altitude pass which offered the some challenges for trekkers. It is a paradise for nature lovers and adventure lovers. This beautiful trek is start from Dhaula in Uttarakhand and ends at Solang in Himachal Pradesh. Rupin Pass trek is one of the most popular trek of India which is popularly known for its heavy snow fall, deep valley of Meadows and an ancient temple which is dedicate to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. This beautiful trek stands in the moderate –Difficult category. Rupin pass trek is situated at an altitude of 15, 250 ft above the sea level and considered among one of the high range pass trek for trekkers in India. You will get surprise at every hour which provides on the way by the Mother Nature.
Rupin Pass Trek takes 8-9 days to complete with 10 km trekking every day. You have to be well prepared to be able to cover this distance easily. It starts from Dhaula and takes you to Sewa, Jiskun, Udaknal, Dhantera Thatch and after that you will reach Rupin Pass via Rati Pheri. During the trek you will need 6-7 km trekking every day which means you need to ensure that you are physically fir and have enough stamina to complete this adventure. You need more confidence to enjoy the pass and full fill the adventurous activities. You will find every types of terrain like Sow, Rocky terrain through the various water streams and meadows. The trek will start from green and hot landscapes and move towards coldest area covered with thick snow to till end.
You will pass through thousands of the waterfalls and streams which flowing down through at a high such as look like as they are falling from the sky. Jhaka Village is looks like a hanging village due to its unique positions. On the trek you will across the numerous snow bridges. Some of the place will pass through the forest of Fir, Rhododendron & Oak and this forest looks like a movie set up around you. Kinnaur Temple is one of the major attractions of the place and you will get mesmerizing views of Loft Kailash Peak after that you will move towards Rupin Pass. Tour itinerary:
Day 01: Dhaula
You will reach Dhaula because it is the base of the Rupin Pass trek and last point of roads of Uttarakhand. First you will reach Dehradun then from Dehradun Railway station will take train and reach Dhaula. Dhaula is a deep valley covered with thick forest and beautiful mountains.
Day 02: Dhaula – Sewa
After having breakfast you will move towards Sewa which is situated at an altitude of 6300 ft. You need 9 km trekking which take 5 -6 years to reach Sewa. Visit village, temples and enjoy rhododendron wooded forest. Dinner & overnight stay at campsite.
Day 03: Sewa – Jakha
Today, after breakfast move towards Jakha. Enjoy the 6- 7 hours trekking to reach which is surrounding by the mixed forest. It is the highest point and the last village of Rupin Pass trek. Arrival at Jakha, enjoy the dinner and overnight stay at campsite.
Day 04: Jakha – Suruwas Thach
After having breakfast move towards Suruwas Thach through trekking with charming meadows at Suruwas thach. It is short trek but slippery slopes. You will descent top reach the Rupin River and take some rest here with lunch break. After Lunch you will cross a very tricky trail there will be slippery slopes, Boulders and streams to cross to reach Saruwas Thach. In the evening the trek instructor will provide you ice trekking training which includes climb-up and down the steep slope of frozen snow. Bonfire and enjoy the overnight stay at the camp site.
Day 05: Saruwas – Dhandras thach
Today after breakfast you will proceed towards Dhandras thach where you will enjoy the lots of Snow crossing, walk and snow bridge over the river. After crossing the snow bridge you will enjoy the beauty of Rupin Valley and Rupin River, take some rest on the river with Lunch. After few km of Snow adventure you will reach Dhandras Thach campsite. You can enjoy the most beautiful views of waterfalls and snow capped peaks from Campsite. Next climbing will be more tough so do practice the techniques. Enjoy the bonfire and dinner at the campsite.
Day 06: Dhandras thach – Upper waterfall
Today after breakfast you will move towards waterfalls. This is a short trek but toughest to the others and you will face multiple climbs and pass through 2 waterfalls. If the snow will be melt then the way will be more slippery. You need the hike vertically of 4 km from upper to lower waterfall and the hike will be toughest. Today you can feel colder, overnight stay at the campsite.
Day 07: Upper waterfall – Rupin Pass
Today the trek will start early in the morning around 5 o clock and move towards Rupin Pass which is the higher than any European Summit. The chilly wind with snow dust makes your climb difficult and harder. After reaching a plain surface you could get a glimpse of Rupin Pass and the whole area is covered with thick snow and you need a line till to the final climb and the final climbing of the Rupin Pass will be toughest to the others. At one point will become very steep so take a rope for the help to maintain balance. The last 30 minutes climb will be more agonizing but when you reach Summit of Rupin pass you will forget all the things and feel amazing and the feeling and achievement cannot be explain in the world. You will enjoy the panoramic views of Kinner Kailash and other Himalayan peaks. Overnight stay at the campsite.
Day 08: Rupin Pass - Sangla Valley - Shimla
After taking breakfast in the morning you will start trek towards Sangla valley. Today you can relax at the hotel in Sangla and afternoon cab will take you to Shimla. Take hot bath and relax in the hotel and start back to your town from Shimla. This is the last day of your journey ends with sweet and amazing memories.
