Jalsu Pass Trek is a delightful trek provides you an amazing trek and lies in the Dhauladhar region. It is a crossover pass towards eastern part of Dhauladhar between Chamba and Kangra Valley. This trail is popularly known for its wild nature beauty and most beautiful ancient Temples of Chamba valley or trival village. These temples are dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is an easy trek which is used by the Gaddi people. Mostly peoples who reside here find this trek easy to reach Kangra district. Local people walk this trail in a day to reach from Nayagram to Baijnath. You can complete this trek within 6 -7 days.
This trek is a wonderful trek for beginners. Jalsu Pass is not popular among the trekkers as other passes but during the trek you can enjoy the most beautiful Grassland, majestic yellow grass flower and deep rhododendron bushes which provides you an amazing view can match on Dhauladhars. The trek starts from Chamba and first drive towards to Chhatrari Village it is the homage of Shakti Devi Temple. After 8 km hiking through green meadows you will Yaragot village and this village provides you unforgettable memories. It also the base camp of Jalsu pass trek. During the trek you will enjoy the whole trail. The best time to visit this trail is from April to June and again September to till November, rainy season makes the trek quite difficult so avoide the trekking during monsoon season. This trek is provides you a great opportunity to know more about wildlife or nature. It is an ideal trail for wildlife lovers.
Itinerary:
Day 01: Chamba – Chhatrari – Holi – Deol
The first drive will move towards Chhatrari Village which is known as the home of Shakti Devi Temple. The starting point of the trek is Chamba in Dharamshala. After visiting this temple move towards Deol Village via Holi Village. Enjoy Dinner and Overnight stay at campsite.
Day 02: Deol – Nayagran – Surai
Today after having breakfast you will start walking towards Nayagran. It takes just an hour and you will arrive to Tribal Village and here you can learn about the lifestyle of local peoples. Visit the small temple at this village and get blessings for your journey. You will cross a bridge and climb walk to reach Surai Village. Dinner and Overnight stay at the campsite.
Day 03: Surai – Yaragot
After having breakfast you will leave surai through uphill trek and lush meadows. After 8 km walking you will reach Yaragot village. Dinner and Overnight stay here.
Day 04: Yaragot – Jalsu Pass Base
After breakfast we will proceed towards Jalsu Pass. Today you can enjoy the high altitude weather with fresh and pure environment. After 3 hours hike you will reach the base camp of the trek here you can enjoy quality time with your fellow trekkers and enjoy dinner and overnight stay here.
Day 05: Jalsu pass – The Summit of the pass – Parai
A short trek about 1.5 hours will take you to the Summit of the pass which is surrounding by the beautiful mountains peaks on one side and other is pristine valley. During the month of March and April this area is covered by the thick snow. After spending some time here and clicking some pictures move to Parai.
Day 06: Parai – Uttarall – Andretta
After morning breakfast starts trek towards Uttarall. On reaching here you will visit and drive to Andretta. The place is famous for its Irish artish, Norah Richards which is shifted in the 20the century. This village attracted painters and theatre practitioners from all around the world. Dinner& Overnight stay at the guest house.
Day 07: Andretta – Dharamshala
After morning breakfast you will explore the Andretta Village. In the afternoon move towards Dharamshala. After two hours drive reach the beautiful hill station. Check in the hotel and take some rest, in the evening visit the Dalai Lama Temple. At this point your trek will ends with sweet memories.
