Narkanda is a beautiful town located in the Shimla district in the state of Himachal Pradesh. It is a charming hill station near Shimla situated at a distance of 65 km from Shimla with at an elevation of 2621 mts above the sea level. It is lies in between the valley of River Sutlej and Giri which is well connected to Thanedar. Thanedar is popularly known as the “Gateway to Apple Country”. The snow capped Himalayan peaks, charming landscape, greenery, water streams, rivers, amazing surrounding of Shivalik range attract thousands of the tourists from all around the country. Narkanda is a popular destination famous for its skiing, angling and other winter adventure activities. The town started its skiing facilities in 1981 and HPTDC conducts course regularly.
It is surrounding by the thick forest and woodlands which is popularly known for its Skiing in winters. The unseen and unexplored nature beauty, hills, forests and its beautiful apple orchards increase the charm of the place and attract thousands of the tourists. Tannu Jabar Lake is one of the major attractions of Narkanda which is referred as the most important tourist destination. Near the Lake a religious temple is situated which is must visited place at here. There is a beautiful hill called Hatu Nag, one can enjoy the trekking at this hill which offer Panoramic views of all surroundings. It is an ideal destination for adventure lovers and Skiing is one of the major activities which perform here.
Narkanda rise after construction of Hindustan – Tibetan Road in 1850 which was constructed in order of British Governer General. It is located at the highest point on this road between Shimla and River valley Satluj. Stokes farm and Thanedhar is the other major attraction at Narkanda. It is a great place for Nature, Adventure and Photograph lovers. Lots of opportunities for adventures like trekking, rock climbing and skiing are available here.
Summer: During Summer the weather in Narkanda is pleasant with the temperature of 30 to 10 degree Celsius. Summer begins from April to June is consider as the best time to visit.
Winter: Winter starts from October to till February with the temperature as low as -10 degree Celsius. Skiing is the winter spot activities which perform here.
Monsoon: Rainfall makes the destination more beautiful and charming. it received moderate rainfall during monsoon.
Hatu Peak: Hatu peak is the highest peak in entire Shimla district situated at an elevation of 12000 ft above the sea level. It is referred as the paradise on earth. It is surrounding by the majestic mountains and covered by the dense green forest of pine, spruce, cedar, blue, pine, deodar, fir etc. Apart from that it also decorated with apple orchards. The Hatu Mata Temple situated at a top of the hill. This temple is dedicated to Mandoidari wife of Ravana.
Tannu Jubbar Lake: Tannu Lake is an ideal place for spending some time with family and friends. It is a perfect picnic spot and relaxing place surrounding by the trees.
Stokes farm: Stoke Farm is popular place which is renowned for its apple orchards. The apple cultivation in this region was found by a person named Stokes. Today the area is known for its apple orchards and cultivation.
Mahamaya Temple: Mahamaya Temple is a religious temple located at a distance of 7 km from Narkanda. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali and surrounding by the most beautiful greenery and nature beauty.
Thanedar kothgarh belt: Thanedar is known as the bowl of Fruits of Himachal Pradesh which is popularly known for its apple orchards.

By Train: Gauge Railway station is the nearest Railway station situated in Kalka at a distance of 125 km away. Outside the railway station taxies and buses are easily available.
By Road: Narkanda is well connected to the major destination of Himachal Pradesh. It lies on the National Highway which is connected Shimla to Kinnaur.
