Kalpa is a beautiful village situated in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh which is placed in Kinnaur –Kailash range. It is located at an elevation of 9711 ft above the sea level. This is a charming destination and one of the main villages of Kinnaur which is well decorated by the many beautiful temples and monasteries. Kalpa was replaced by the modern town of Rekong Peo. The River Sutlej flow through the village and increase the charm of the place. This town is also famous for its apples orchards. Kalpa is situated in Kinner –Kailash range which is a religious mountain visited by the thousands of the devotees from all around the world. There is a 70 meter high Shivalinga situated at the top of the hills that is one of the major attractions of the place. Solang valley is one of the other major attractions of this destination which is situated on the Baspa River.
The destination is a great history and believed that this place was under the region of Mugadha followed by the Mauryan Empire during 6th century after that during 9th to till 12th century the Guge kingdom of Tibet also ruled in Kinnaur. The history of the district lasted until Emperor Akbar conquered the area and included the valley into the Mughal Empire.
Kalpa is popularly known for its apple orchards and it is the major cash-crop for the region. Get up early morning and walk through this paradise will provide you an amazing and unique experience with sunrise. Summer: Summer is the best time to explore the beauty of the Kalpa. Summer begins from April to till June with the temperature of 7 degree to 20 degree Celsius. The days are quite warm but the nights are cold.
Winter: The winter begins from October to till February with the temperature as low as zero level. The whole area is covered with snow. Winters are extremely chilly here.
Monsoon: July to till September is the monsoon season at Kalpa. During Monsoon the area received heavy rainfall.
Kinnaur Kailash: Kinnaur kailash is popularly known for its religious importance referred as the abode of Lord Shiva. It is situated at an elevation of 6500 mts above the sea level. It is one of the most visited places in kalpa which is visited by the lot of the devotees every day. Devotees come here for a religious Parikarma, starts from Morang to till in Kalpa. It is surrounding by the gushing rivers, beautiful valleys, villages, lush green, orchards and picturesque mountains.
Suicide Point Kalpa: It is located around 3 km from kalpa village surrounding by the beautiful apple orchards. It is a lovely point and one of the dangerous points here. This charming place is popularly known for its thrilling trench which provides you an excellent experience for whole life.
Roghi Village: Roghi Village is one of the wonderful villages situated at a distance of 8 km away from Kalpa which is surrounding by the lovely gardens and charming villages houses. This place is popularly known for its apple orchards, village life, temples, monasteries etc. Roghi village is well blessed by the amazing nature beauty. It is famous for its simple lifestyle and customs of Himachal.
Narayan Nagini Temple: This is one of religious temple which is perfect example of Kinnaur craftsmanship. The temple is offered the Tibetan Pagoda style of architecture and situated on the top of a hill at Chini Village. This temple is one of the major attractions of this place.
Hu-Ba Lan-Kar Monastery: It is an ancient village was founded by the Rinchensang-po in 950- 1055 AD.
Sapni Fort: Sapni fort was built by Raja Padam Singh of Rampur. It is a beautiful fort presents an amazing architecture and wonderful surrounding. It is an ancient fort has seven floors. It is located in the Sapni Village which is one of the major attractions of Kalpa. A beautiful temple is situated here which is dedicated to Goddess Kali.
Kothi: Kothi is a beautiful place of Kapla which present amazing Art & Architecture. It is an ancient village located near Reckong Peo and one can enjoy the magnificence views of kinnaur- kailash peak. Kothi is a religious temple dedicated to Goddess Shuwang Chandika.
Chakka: Chakka is one of the most popular destination and one of the perfect places for trekking in kalpa. One can enjoy the unlimited trekking and hiking. The beautiful chakka Peak is situated at an elevation of 15,000 ft above the sea level will take around 2 to 3 hours to reach. It is recommended the trek started early in the morning.
Batseri: It is a beautiful village in Kalpa tehsil in kinnaur district which is popularly known for its picturesque surrounding and amazing landscape. This village is one of 109 villages in Sangla. Shimla, Mussoorie, Mandi and Sundarnagar are the nearest cities of Batseri.
Kamru Fort: This fort is a perfect place for visit but now it is converted into a temple which is dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya Devi. This temple is made of woods and the Goddess placed in 3rd floor.
By Air: Shimla is the nearest Airport to reach Kalpa situated around 276 km. The other nearest Airport is Dehradun situated at a distance of 138 km from Kalpa. The destination is well connected to the other major cities of India.
BY Train: The Nearest Railway Station is Shimla located at a distance of 244 km from Kalpa. Outside the Railway station taxies and buses are easily available to reach.
By Road: Kalpa is well connected to the other major cities and the road to kalpa is popularly known for its beautiful landscape.
